The kids got to experience their first ever "trick or treat" session on Wednesday night while we were in the US. We weren't actually there on Halloween itself as we had to get back for work and school. Luckily the Americans love Halloween and it was like a weeklong celebration! There is a little shopping mall near Nana's house where most of the stores were participating in trick or treat for the local kids from 4-6pm or so. Noemie went as Belle and Charlie went as Buzz Lightyear. He didn't wear the head gear and gloves for long but did well for the rest of the time. Considering he had woken up at 5:30am that day and hadn't had a nap and it was around 5pm when these photos were taken, he was doing pretty darn good! They got lots of candy which I ate some of (well, some things just aren't safe for little ones to eat you know?) but generally speaking they aren't huge fans of candy anyway. I think they enjoyed the process of saying "Trick or Treat" and then having a candy put in their pumpkins. I'm so glad they got to experience this and hope they get to again in a few years time. I grew up Trick or Treating in Japan where people really got into it and it was safe. Kirk grew up in the US doing the same, probably on a much larger scale! Living in London, you don't see much of this. We went to a kid's Halloween Party last year put on by the KCWC which was pretty cool. But you don't get many kids going door to door. More like teenagers with their hoodies pulled up asking for money. Or people just not getting it at all. One of the downsides of living here. I've heard plenty of Brits say that they don't like Halloween as it's like sending your kids out to beg for stuff from strangers. Seriously? Enough said.
Noemie had another halloween party at her school on the Monday we got back but she wore a different costume for that. I'll have to post a photo of that tomorrow as I haven't gotten around to editing it just yet. It was super cute though and made a change from her Princess obsession!
Leaving you with the only family photo we have from the trip!
