For Charlie's 5th birthday party, we did what Noemie had for her 5th birthday... a Sharky & George party. You can't have a bad party with these guys. They are amazing with the kids, never a dull moment, no one is left out yet the birthday child is made to feel extra important. I don't know how they do it but they do it and do it well!
Charlie's party was Angry Birds themed with a bit of a mix of Angry Birds original and Angry Birds Star Wars. He wanted all AB Star Wars but I couldn't find enough stuff for that unfortunately. Still, he was happy and it wasn't that big a deal. He made sure to wear his tee shirt though and there he is getting his birthday bumps.
Here is his cake. It's a 3 layered vanilla sponge that I dyed so it had a red, yellow and green stripe (Angry Birds colors somewhat). Buttercream frosting for the decorations and then the characters are made from fondant but not by me. I got them off of a lovely seller on ebay. The cake didn't quite turn out how I had visualised but I had great reviews the next day from the parents and the kids who got a large slice to take home and eat (I tend to dislike serving cake at the party itself as people either don't finish it so it's a waste or they drop cake and the frosting smears on the floor and then I have to clean it up. I hate cleaning so I'll do whatever it takes to avoid it. One of our class Moms offered to take a photo of the four of us which is probably the only photo I have of the four of us at any of the birthday parties we have thrown!
Somehow I don't think Noemie got the memo that you don't tease the birthday boy. The guys were handing out gummy bears at various times and I think Noemie must've "won" one for something she did. She made sure to enjoy that little gummy bear much to Charlie's dismany. Check out the smile on her face and that pout on his! Not to worry though, he had plenty of candy that day.
Last but not least, the kids and I. The party went really well, everyone seemed to have a nice time and no one got into any fights or anything. I was wondering what it was going to be like as C's class is boy heavy and we all know how boys are when they all get together. Charlie got loads of really nice birthday presents so he's been busy with his Lego and books amongst other things he received! The entire house looks like the playroom at the moment!
6 months until N's birthday. In the meantime I'm throwing a Halloween party for around 40 kids. Yep. I'm insane.
