Super duper early flight and only 50% of our family are morning people. Definitely not the girl half. I can somewhat function in the morning but Noemie? Nope, not until at least 10am. And it really irritates her that Charlie is such a happy chappy in the morning.
After an hour long flight into Geneva, we transfered to a coach which took 3-1/2 hours to arrive in Saas Fee. Luckily Charlie passed out and we had to wake him up as we arrived so no one was car sick. That made for a really great start to our week!
We arrived at our hotel, The Allalin which was really lovely. We had 2 massive rooms both with their own bathrooms so the kids got one room and we got the other. The rooms were connected via a hallway and we could've locked our door and pretended to be child free for a week but the kids had other ideas and thought it was super fun to run laps around the room. I'm guessing the people staying in the room beneath us were either very patient, deaf or drank themselves to sleep each night.
The first afternoon we had no ski plans so Kirk took the kids out front of the hotel where they played in loads of snow. The kids have seen snow before but probably not in the quantity they were faced with this time. They had both been chatting about wanting to build an igloo and a snowman for most of the day… they didn't do either during our entire visit there. Noemie did a few snow angels, Charlie whined his hands were cold but then refused to keep his gloves on and drove us all insane with his whining. I took these photos from our balcony. Kirk thought it would be funny to push Charlie backwards onto the snow but somehow in a bad Daddy moment he managed to push Charlie forwards so he fell face first into the snow. Yep, more whining and some tears followed. Shame I wasn't down there with them. Not so I could've consoled Charlie. But it would've been great to capture the look of horror on Kirk's face when he realized he had made Charlie cry. We didn't do much for the rest of the day as it was already nearly dinner time by the time the kids were suitably frozen and wet from playing in the snow.
